Greetings fellow ACAC's! My name is Tabitha and I am the Co-Chair for the 2010 OACAC Summer Counselor Bus Tour. This is the second year for the tour and we would really like to invite your counselors join us on this tour. Many of our college counselors are members of your ACAC's and we appreciate the support of your organizations. The information is attached.
The Pathways to College Act is a bill designed to aid low-income and first generation students in the transition to postsecondary education by emphasizing the importance of school counseling in the college and career planning process. This bill will provide competitive grant funds to high-need school districts to invest in school counseling services by hiring, training, and equiping counselors to establish a college-going culture.
High school counselors' daunting workload
At most of the city's high schools, they are each expected to work with more than 300 students. Change is planned.
